Enchilada Sauce

This enchilada sauce is my version of an authentic family recipe I found online. Very good!

Watch me make it here!

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

Instructions

Step 1 In a medium pot, add the guajillo, ancho, and árbol chiles and enough water to cover them completely. Bring to a boil over high heat. Remove the pot from the heat, cover, and let the chiles soak for 10 minutes to soften.

Step 2 Transfer pot of chilies and water to a blender. Add three tomatoes and blend.

Step 3 Strain the mixture then add smooth liquid back into blender along with garlic cloves, 1 tomato, salt, and lime juice.

  • 4 large Roma tomatoes

Step 4  Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the sauce and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 3 minutes.

  • 3 garlic cloves, peeled

Step 5   Your sauce is done! Use it for enchiladas and enjoy!

  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • juice of half a lime
